Hit Lake Norris in N.E. Tennessee this weekend. Scored the black bass trifecta. Largemouth, KY Spotted Bass and Smallies. Caught them on tubes, jigs and the drop shot but caught a couple dandies on a Rippin' Rap. It was Smallmouth Bass heaven.

I jigged and dragged a tube from Shore on Saturday and had a huge day. 8 LMBs total with one lunker. My wife got me a PFlueger Patriarch 40 for Christmas so I was dying to try it out. It's a pretty sweet reel. 2011 was a banner Bass year! Happy New Year to all my MAFF pals!

I had the day off on Friday, so I got up early and picked up some Chrismas gifts for Mrs. LMBking. I had a line in the Charles by 1, so I had about 3 hours of day light. I hooked into 7 largemouth. 5 keepers, One in the 3lb+ class. I used a 7ft spinning set up. Just jigging structure within casting distance of the shore, sea walls, shopping carts, Chevys, etc. Kinda my M.O. when I'm shore fishing the Charles downtown. I can't ever remember having such a productive day in December. It was so much FUN!

I went out for an hour on the Charles on Sunday morning across from the Museum, just above the locks. Must have found a school of little Smallies because it seemed I was catching the same fish over and over again. They were suspended in about 10 feet of water. Got them with a 1/4 oz jig head with a pumkin grub trailer. A bunch of skinny fish maxing out at about 12 inches. Lots of fun.

The power went out in my office yesterday, so they cut us lose. This is why I keep a rod and a couple jigs at my desk. I walked down to the esplanade and caught three keepers. Skirted jigs with grub trailers. November shore fishing at it's finest.

This happened last month, but it's a story you guys will appreciate. I went out with some friends about 50 miles off Hyannis. It was a great trip. Caught Blue Fish as the sun rose, then motored east for Mako, Threshers and Blues. I reeled in the first shark with the Penn 50 all harnessed up. After that it was time to relax and watch the rest of the crew fight it out with what turned out to be a steady stream of big ol' sharks.
After awhile I got ancy. I put my 3 piece striper rod together, slapped on the Penn Slammer, grabbed a shark hook and baited it with a Blue Fish fillet. I hucked the bait out and just sat there on the bow day dreaming.
What resulted was one of the most exciting fights of my life. The screaming reel snapped me back to attention. It was a long battle, but the 40lb braid and blue fish leader held up. I wore this shark out, and got the leader to the boat. COUNT IT! 7-8 Feet long, several hundred pounds. I LOVE FISHING!

I work in the Financial District, and once a week I fish the Charles from the shore after work. I usually rock a shaky head jig or or an octopus hook and experiment with plastics. I've got some decent Largemouth and the rare smalley. I got a little guy last Wednesday that has me kinda stumped. What do you guys think the last pic is? LMB or SMB?

After my labor day bonanaza, I couldn't stay away from upstate NY. Another great trip. Extensive rains have caused the lakes and ponds to swell, giving the bass some new hide outs. They were tougher to find, but I got a nice pattern going. Caught dozens of bass, perch and crappie. Pitched jigs and worms into breaks in the pads, and pulled cranks over structure. Best bass was a fat 19 incher. Found him with a Senko in cover, 3-4 feet of water by a culvert.
Trolled a KVD 2.5 down 3 FT, and a Tail Dancer down 20 FT and hit the crappie of the summer on the KVD.
