My buddy and I hit Wampatuck Pond aka Town Hall Pond in Hanson last weekend for a quick trip before dark. I've never been a big fan of this pond as it gets hit pretty hard by the bucket brigade, water clarity is about an inch and is shallow throughout. I ended up having a pretty decent day though.

I dragged my jig over some plants close to shore just beyond the cemetery and a 3.11 largie hit it right after I cleared the plants, got him. We moved on to the back cove which is the weediest part of the pond. I tossed the jig by a deep weed line and got hit on the retrieve but missed it. I immediately cast back to that area and got smashed on the drop. Landed a 4lb on the dot, put up probably the best fight I've had from a largie this year. I've been using a green/brown jig with a watermelon baby brush hog as my go to this year and its been working well, got me these both of these fish too.

This place is pretty brutal to get into and the fishing is not easy. Its shallow and weedy throughout. I was worried there would have been a huge fish kill here this winter as most of the nearby smaller ponds all had tons dead fish in the drains.

We kayaked around for a few hours with zero to show for it except for my cousin getting a perch and a small pickerel. It was getting late, around 7:30 and its a long treck back so we pulled the kayaks on shore and were casting a bit before we left.

Immediately I start getting action and catch a dink and a 1.75 lber in about 10 minutes. We start getting ready to leave and on my very last cast, which I almost didn't take I get a big hit and after a fight this beast of a 6.23 lb bass is on the shore. I got them all on a black and blue jig with a black and blue craw.

This is easily my new PB and also my first bass over 5lbs.

I took the kayak onto Little Sandy Bottom Pond in Pembroke today from about 1PM to 5:30PM. I got 10 total which quantity wise is a personal best. I got them all with a lite brown jig and pig. They were pretty deep, I got them all where the water level dropped from relatively shallow to deep on the side of the pond with the beach. I got the biggest of the day on the other side but that side was much windier and I got sick of spinning in circles. It was a fun day! The largest of the day is the one pictured, not huge but my biggest of the year. Last years scale is busted and I haven't sprung for a new one yet so no idea of the weight.

So after searching all summer I've finally found myself a legit honey hole. My last one was great but on private property and they apparently are no longer cool with fishing, someone must have trashed the place or something.

So me and my cousin squeezed in a quick trip after work, we got on the water at 7 PM and were out by 8:10 PM. I landed a 1.94 lb largemouth near a fallen try and then he got a 1.65 lber on the outside of a weed bed. We were using the 6" baby bass colored senkos for this scouting mission. We both got a few good bites after but landed nothing. Then I switched to a buzzbait and got a few strikes but nothing connected.

Ended with 2 decent fish and tons of action after only an hour. I cant wait to go back and do a proper trip.

So I squeezed in one last quick fishing trip yesterday before I got my wisdom teeth taken out today and will be bedridden for a bit. Got there at about 3 and stayed til about 6. Didn't catch anything too great but I got 3 keepers. The first one came slightly left of the Little Sandy public beach. Then I made my way to the shore by route 27, parked the kayak and spent about 45 minutes walking the shore and casting out, got 2 nice little keepers. All fish were on a black senko worm and were released back fine. Got the oral surgery today and it isn't all that bad! Hopefully I'll be back on the water tomorrow and the time I took off can be more of a vacation than a recovery!
