it seems all I do is post about the nip, but I do go other places too lol, first off, today was a very rough day fighting all sorts of weekend warriors; jet skis, swimmers, big boats, paddle boarders and an assortment of kayaks and paddle boats, with all the action, the bite was VERY slow, and the two fish that I did catch today were 2lb and 5.5lb. I will include a few pics of the 5lb. I caught them on a dark jig.

My buddy and I went out on the nip yesterday. The flags were flying, and the fish were biting. got 3 pickerel, all fairly good size, and one strange looking pickerel, kinda looked like a cross breed. I have caught something similar a few years back off the boat ramp of the Nip as well. if i had to guess, it looks like a red fin pickerel. I included a picture of the ice fish and a close up of the boat ramp fish as well. For bass, we got a one pounder, a two pounder, a three pounder, and a four pounder. The 2 pounder was caught on a lindy darter. I included pictures of the three and four pounder. the four pounder was 21 inches, and I just sent in the paperwork to mass.gov for their new catch and release sport fishing award pins. The trip overall was a huge success, it was tough going getting out to the spot, but the ice was around 12-14 inches thick throughout the lake.

Took out the yaks again the nip, on May 24th. The top water bite was on! The rebel pop-r preformed again. The weeds were starting to come in at the back, and the bass were feeding. I pulled up a few small bass and pickerel and then found the big fish right by the mouth of the river. I got a few 2 pounders and a nice 4.72 pounder too. I had read in a bass master article that guys were using one and 2 pound line to catch bass, so on the way back to the ramp, I took out my ice fishing rod rigged with 2 pound line and used a chartreuse senko. I got a bite that snapped my line, and I was now determined to catch a fish on the ice fishing rod. So I put on another 5 inch senko and hooked up with a 1.75 pound largemouth. It took me about 5 minutes to reel in, and an impressive net job by my buddy, but I got it, took a few pics and revived the fish to let him
Swim another day after a memorable fight. The fish will soon be on the move, moving out of the back and to the east and west sides of the nip.

On sat. may 8th, my friend and i headed out to the nip for some fishing on his boat. im fishing my first tournament at the nip(and ever) this saturday the 17th, so i had strictly largemouth in mind. ive had bad luck bass fishing so far, but that was about tp change. fishing with swimbaits and senkos, i was able to hook up with 7 fish, 3 largemouth(1-1pounder, 1-2pounder, and 1-2.43pounder). as well as my biggest pickerel ever, weighing in at 2.94 pounds!!

Then today may 12th, we headed out to the beach on chase road and walked some trails, found a decent spot about a mile into the woods, and got a 3.05pound bass and 2 decent pickerel.

looking good for this weekend :)

On saturday may 3rd, my friend and i took out the yaks for a day of fishing at the nip. i go to the nip a lot, but ive never been fishing all the way behind the island, so we headed out early to catch some fish. With Largemouth in mind, i started fishing the shore with a pumpkin senko. Once we got to our target area, behind the island, we fished the cover surrounding the areas along shore. we came across what i believe is a duck hunting strucure made out of concrete and docked the yaks to stretch out and do some shore fishing. fishing with a five inch senko, i was getting small bites off the structure, and once i hooked up, it was a huge crappie. we had found a massive school of crappie all pushing a pound. these fish were agressive enough to eat bass lures. we got around 3 each and headed out for bigger and better fish. fishing with rubber worms got old, so i switched to my rebel pop-r in light blue, by far the best color, cant be beat. Missed a few big hits, and caught a good pickerel. got another crappie on the top water too. on the way back to the ramp, i threw on a crankbait and trolled it, got another nice pickerel, but was unable to saftly take a picture due to big waves. SO FAR STILL NO LARGEMOUTH AT THE NIP!!!!!!

After a solid drizzle all day, i headed out to the nip to try my hand at fishing the ramp for a little while. I had taken out the kayaks the day before, and we picked up 2 much bigger about 26 inch pickerel. For today tho, it was still sprinkling so I started with a rebel popper and didn't get any hits, so i switched over to the yum money minnow in black and white and got a hit on the fourth cast, got a small 20 inch pickerel. didn't get another hit for ten minutes so i switched to a Texas rigged chartreuse and white senko, fished that for a few minutes and got another hit, and got another small pickerel as shown in the picture. after that i called it a day but so far the last two days the nip has been all pickerel with no sings of any bass, Yet.
