I fish almost every day if I can. I love catching bass and crappie the most. I'm always looking for new friends to fish with. I love being outside as much as possible! I'm really sweet and down to earth with a geeky side. I'm an introvert and a tomboy at heart under this girlie girl exterior. I used to help maintain a large collection of monster fish with my last partner. We had South American and African Cichlids. We also kept one of my favorite fish peacock bass which I hope to fish someday. We had other oddities such as arowanas, datnoids, arapaima, bichirs, snooks and freshwater sting rays and some things I can't mention. This is just a sampling of some of the exotic fish we kept and traded over the years. We had several tanks from 350, 300, 90, 55 etc... You get the idea.

I love top-water and shallow diving Rapala hard bait minnows of all kinds. My favorites are Rapala Clackin' minnows and X-Rap minnows, husky jerks and rooster tails. I also have recently discovered wacky worming for bass. When nothing else is working they go nuts for this.

Angie B's Latest Reports

I had an appointment nearby and decided to schedule some time after to stop here. I was surprised at how man bass there were. I stopped by the structure on the Lee street side and set up. At firs nothing was happening and I was starting to get bored. I sat down and stared at the bobber for a few minutes then bam. I pulled up the biggest perch I've ever caught. He must have been around a pound give or take. I decided to switch up from worms after having most of my crawlers get chewed up by sunfish. I threw on my size 8 perch colored husky jerk. I have really good eyes and I'm able to see pretty far and deep and I just watched as the bass toyed with it. The would follow it then bump it. I even watched three of them hanging around it at one point. They were taunting me. I finally stuck my number 6 flat rap on and pulled in a 2lb. bass. Then I pulled in a few smaller ones and called it a night. It was nice to feel that high I get whenever I catch a bass. It wasn't a bad trip. I'm considering another visit before it becomes crowded with joggers.

My friend flew in from Cali and had never fished in her whole life. I brought her to the docks for about an hour. I had fun chasing her around the dock with crawlers as she screamed. I showed her what some of the stuff was for in my tackle box. I caught a few fish and let her reel them in. I even got her to actually touch one. I managed to pull in a bunch of sunfish. Le sigh.

We ended up talking to some nice kids who were on the dock with us. They were teasing my friend a little and called her a yuppie and commented about how she gets her nails done and how this is how us rednecks do it. I found it all amusing and she was a good sport about it. They ran out of worms so I gave them a bunch of night crawlers and a few senkos because I was happy to see teenagers actually doing something constructive and they managed to amuse me. My lure got stuck in a tree and in an effort to impress one of them made a futile effort to scale the tree after I insisted it was too dangerous and I could just buy another one. They sure were pulling in the crappie. I was a little envious.

I went to Turtle Pond once again to nightfish to avoid the yuppies that illegally swim here. I was laying on my backpack and gazing up at the stars and before you know it I dozed off. I woke up a little after 4am shocked. I decided to do some fishing. I most likely would have caught four bass but two of the bass were so huge they ripped my lures off. I think I might have had loose knots which I am now very careful to check because Rapala lures aren't cheap. In the end I had two. One small and one decent size one about 14 inches give or take. Lucky I put on my deep woods repellant that night or I would have been mosquito chow.

Map it

I went to turtle pond to catch some Crappie and I sure did get lucky. I caught 6 in an hour a number I have yet to reproduce. The thing about Turtle Pond is if you don't have a boat you are restricted to two different docks. With just the fish caught dockside I could only imagine all the bass` if I could get to all the surrounding grassy areas. One side has a huge drop off and the crappie seem to like it there. The other side is a little more shallow and tends to be where I catch Bass. Unfortunately when it gets hot the Yuppie idiots illegally swim and scare off my fish. Like who gets up at 6am to swim and ruin my fishing. :-) Seriously for me to get up at 5am takes some serious dedication.
