Hammonasset Description

fishing off the rocks is the best spot here. beautiful view over long island sound. you can catch a lot of fish here but the main two are snappers and sea robins. if you want to edit or add some things here than please do so.


A visit to Hammonasset Reservoir is always a good idea. Hiking along the Washington Trail is great fun and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Guilford. Take a hike on the Mattabesset Trail and playing golf is lots of fun at Guilford Lakes Golf Course. If you're into the whole hydro structure thing you can check out Deer Lake Dam and some of the water around here flows, like Chatfield Hollow Brook.You can camp at Hammonasset Beach State Park while you're here at Hammonasset Reservoir and a day on the slopes of Powder Ridge is just what you need. Chatfield Hollow State Park is a great place and you can have a great hiking adventure along the West Woods Trail. If you came for an overnight stay Riverdale Camp Sites is a good place to camp and Hammonasset River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby. After a long day outdoors Tower Inn and Suites is a good place to spend a night or two and whitewater paddling is great on Roaring Brook River. Just can't get enough of Hammonasset Reservoir. The view from the top of Chestnut Hill is worth the climb. Hammonasset Reservoir sees pretty high levels of precipitation, May is the month that gets the most rain, the driest of the months is February. The summer months at Hammonasset Reservoir come with high temperatures in the 80's with night time lows in the 50's. During the winter months highs are in the 30's and nighttime lows in the 10's for Hammonasset Reservoir in winter.
