Canadarago Lake is 6 miles long and a mile wide in some places. Fishing habitats include rocky shoals, weedy flats and perfect lily pads for largemouth. The lake reaches a depth of only 40’ deep. The lake has an island as well as a weedy sunken island. There is very nice state launch on the west side of the lake. Canadarago is not an easy lake to fish. Canadarago Lake is the second largest lake in Otsego County, New York, lying to the west of and parallel to the larger Otsego Lake. Canadarago lake runs from the Village of Richfield Springs at the north end to the community of Schuyler Lake at the south end. The lake has historically also been known as Schuyler Lake. Canadarago Lake offers clean, clear water, excellent fishing, public swimming and a picnic area at Bakers Beach for your enjoyment. The Department of Environmental Conservation reports the lake is one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in New York State. As the result It of a n extensive stocking program by the state, the lake offers a wide variety of species, including walleyes, brown trout, small mouth bass, pickerel, hybrid musky (tiger musky), as well as yellow perch. With many bait shops locally and a state boat launch on State Highway 28, those wishing to fish, water ski, sail or just relax may do so. You may take a break by docking your boat at Baker's Beach to have a picnic, view special events or just relax.
